Drop-In Day 2014 @ Loreto Hockey Club
Dec 14 @ 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

Over the last few years, through the Drop-In Day, the GPPA has been delighted to provide practical assistance to many families in need of some help at Christmas time.

This event will take place at Loreto Hockey Club, Beaufort, Grange Road, Rathfarnham on Sunday, 14th December. All are welcome to call in between 11am and 2pm, and to enjoy some seasonal fare.

Gifts arranged in shape of heart

We ask that you bring with you a gift for under the tree (unwrapped, please!). All of the gifts will be delivered by Sr. Bernadette Foley to families who are in need and with whom she works throughout the year.

We look forward to welcoming many past pupils and friends on this occasion. It’s an ideal opportunity to take a welcome break from the pre-Christmas rush.

Below are some suggestions of what you might bring…

  • New or barely worn Children’s Clothes (The guide is that they should be clothes that a mother would be happy to put her child in, and that a child would be proud to wear)
  • Fancy / Treat Food Items for Christmas Hampers
  • Supermarket / Store Vouchers
  • Pantomine Vouchers
  • New Toys
  • Nappies
  • No alcohol, please.

If you would like to make a donation to the Drop-In Day, but are unable to come along on the day, please contact Catherine-Anne (087-2941685).

The Evergreen Concert 2015 @ Loreto College - School Assembly Hall
Apr 25 @ 7:00 pm

The 2015 Evergreen Concert, featuring performances by Green Past Pupils will take place on Saturday, 25th April at 8pm in the school assembly hall. We are delighted to announce that Rosaleen Linehan will be joining the bill on the night. The line-up also includes a range of vocalists, instrumentalists and the Verdi 53 choir. Our MC for the night is Úna Crawford O’Brien (Fair City). A wonderful night’s entertainment is guaranteed! And, of course, a raffle!

This beneficiary for the 2015 Evergreen Concert is The Capuchin Day Centre in Church Street. Brother Kevin Crowley founded the Centre in 1969 to help relieve the hardship endured by homeless people and to help those in need. At the heart of the Day Centre is the Capuchin Franciscan ethos of an “Open Door” policy where people are welcomed and treated with dignity, privacy and respect. Since the early days, the number of people receiving help at the Centre has risen from 50 to 800 people a day (300 for breakfast and 500 for lunch). In addition the centre gives food parcels to those in need. Currently up to 1,800 receive parcels each day to help feed their families. As well as providing hot meals, the Centre also provides facilities such as shower areas, medical services, along with advice and information clinics. Brother Kevin is assisted in his work by the staff of the Capuchin Day Centre and a team of volunteers.

The students in the senior school donated the proceeds from their Carols by Candlelight evening before Christmas to the Centre, and, in keeping with the GPPA policy of supporting the school’s charity program, we are delighted to direct any proceeds from the Evergreen to this very worthy cause.

Tickets are €20. Payment can be sent to me (The GPPA, c/o C.A. Dooley, 28 Leinster Park, Harold’s Cross, Dublin 6W. (Cheques should be made payable to The G.P.P.A. please)

Alternatively, you can buy tickets through the past pupils website www.loretothegreenpastpupils.ie (Note: tickets bought online cost €22, to cover Paypal charges.)

A limited number of tickets will be available at the door on the night.

We look forward to welcoming many of you back to the school for what promises to be a really entertaining night!!

All the best,
